Why I’m Moving My Photography Blog Away from Social Media

For years, social media has been the main place to share photography. It seemed like the best way to connect with people, reach new audiences, and showcase creative work. But things have changed—and not always for the better. That’s why I’ve decided to bring my photography blog here, to a space that feels safer, more intentional, and more personal.

Protecting Privacy and Data

These days, social media isn’t the most secure place for our personal information. Platforms collect data constantly, and once photos are uploaded, it’s hard to control where they go or how they’re used. For a photographer who often works with images of children and families, privacy matters deeply. Moving to this blog ensures more control over how photos are shared and who gets to see them.

Mental Health and Photography

Many of my clients are children, teenagers, and young adults. When their images are shared on social platforms, it’s easy for them—or their families—to start tying value to how many “likes” or comments a photo gets.

But photography should never be about comparison or numbers. A portrait is about capturing a moment, a personality, or a story—not about whether it goes viral or gets attention online. I don’t want my clients, especially younger ones, to feel pressure or self-doubt based on internet reactions to their photos.

By sharing images here instead, I hope to protect both their privacy and their mental health. This blog allows me to present their portraits in a respectful, thoughtful way—without turning their memories into a popularity contest.

A More Thoughtful Space

This blog isn’t about algorithms, trends, or chasing “likes.” It’s about photography, storytelling, and creating a safe space to share meaningful work. You won’t find comments under posts here, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear from you. What to Expect Here

Moving forward, I’ll be sharing my photography, behind-the-scenes stories, and reflections right here. Think of this as a gallery and a journal combined—a place where images can be appreciated for what they are, without distraction.
